Free Community Workshop: Exercise, Prostate Cancer and Hormonal Therapy
Free Workshop for the Community!
Hormonal therapy (Androgen deprivation therapy: ADT) is a powerful tool to treat men with clinically localized prostate cancer, biochemical recurrence after radical prostatectomy, locally advanced disease, lymph node metastases, and asymptomatic metastatic disease. However, suppressing male hormones (testosterone) is associated with a variety of negative side effects, including fatigue, loss of strength and muscle mass, weight gain and increased risk of other health problems including heart disease and diabetes.
This workshop will review the scientific evidence that shows men on hormone therapy benefit significantly from regular aerobic exercise and resistance training, mitigating these side effects and improving overall quality of life.
