1:00pm-2:00pm
Led by Sifu Paul McIntyre of OC Tai Chi Academy
What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi, often called a “moving meditation,” is a transformative practice that cultivates harmony between your body, mind, and spirit. Rooted in Taoist philosophy and the principles of Yin and Yang, Tai Chi is much more than an exercise—it’s a pathway to health, clarity, and balance.
At its core, Tai Chi is a Chinese internal martial art that focuses on cultivating energy (Qi) and integrating it into movement and stillness. Based on the philosophy of Yin and Yang, it teaches us how to find balance in opposites—stillness in movement, strength in softness, and peace in action.
Through Tai Chi, you’ll explore:
- Energy cultivation (Qi Gong): Practices to enhance vitality and support your body’s natural healing processes.
- Mindful movement: Gentle forms and flowing sequences that improve coordination and balance.
- Philosophy in action: Practical applications of Yin and Yang to create harmony in your life.

Why Tai Chi?
In today’s fast-paced world, many of us face overwhelming stress, mental fatigue, and physical stagnation. From long hours at desks to endless screens and the pressures of daily life, it’s easy to lose focus and feel disconnected. Tai Chi offers a proven way to reclaim your vitality, reduce stress, and bring joy and balance back into your life.
Through gentle, flowing movements, mindful breathing, and intentional focus, Tai Chi helps to:
- Reduce stress and anxiety by calming the mind and releasing tension.
- Improve energy flow and restore balance to your body’s natural systems.
- Enhance physical health by promoting better posture, flexibility, and joint health.
- Support mental clarity and decision-making through mindful practice.
- Strengthen your body and spirit, building resilience for life’s challenges.
Whether you’re seeking better health, a sense of community, or a deeper connection to yourself, Tai Chi meets you where you are and evolves with you over time.
About the Instructor
Sifu McIntyre, Traditional Martial Arts Instructor & Guide
In traditional Chinese martial arts, a Sifu is more than a teacher—he is a guide, mentor, and caretaker of his students’ growth, both in skill and in life. Sifu McIntyre embodies this tradition, carrying forward an unbroken lineage of knowledge while adapting time-honored training methods to the modern world.
Sifu McIntyre’s martial journey began in Taekwondo and Shorinji Kempo before he sought a system emphasizing efficiency, adaptability, and real-world application. This search led him to Lau Kune Do Kung Fu and Tai Chi, where, since 1994, he trained under Grandmaster Richard “Hing Wo” Tsim, becoming the second-highest-ranking disciple and a leading instructor of the system.
Expanding his study of internal martial arts, Sifu McIntyre began training under Grandmaster Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming in 2011. He has since dedicated himself to mastering Yang Family Taijiquan, Taiji Sword, Taiji Saber, Taiji Ball, Taiji Pushing Hands, the Taiji Fighting Set, and the full YMAA Qigong curriculum. In 2024, he officially established YMAA Orange County, bringing these profound arts to a wider community.
Beyond traditional arts, Sifu McIntyre is the creator of the S.E.R.T.+ self-defense system and has over five years of professional protective services experience in real-world environments. His background as an All-American, national-level collegiate athlete and coach gives him unique insight into optimizing human performance, strength, and resilience.
As a Temple Keeper, Sifu McIntyre continues his lifelong dedication to guiding students toward their full potential—physically, mentally, and energetically—through the time-tested wisdom of Chinese martial arts.
